In about a year’s time, Tank has opened up a new global market for off-road SUVs, capturing over half of the off-road vehicle market share, and has become a benchmark for the high-end advancement of Chinese automotive brands.

As a leader in the domestic off-road SUV market, the Tank brand has achieved cumulative sales of 280,000 vehicles, accounting for over 60% of the domestic off-road SUV market share. This achievement is built upon Tank’s foundation in conventional fuel-powered vehicles.

Amidst the wave of electrification, as one of the mainstream technological paths, plug-in hybrid technology has begun to infuse vehicles with more imagination: lower fuel consumption, enhanced power, and higher levels of intelligent technology. Leveraging an in-depth understanding of off-road capabilities and drawing upon Great Wall Motors’ years of new energy technology expertise, Tank has put forth the concept of “Off-Road + New Energy,” creating the industry-leading off-road super hybrid architecture known as the Hi4-T.

The first model under this framework, the Tank 500 Hi4-T, secured more than 10,000 orders upon its launch. Now, the second model built on the Hi4-T architecture—the Tank 400 Hi4-T—is on the horizon, poised to become the next hit.

Distinct from its sibling, the Tank 400, the new model showcases a fresh design. Its front fascia boasts a slender and elongated grille, with the two center grille bars accented by chrome strips for enhanced recognition. In terms of size, the new vehicle measures 4985mm in length, 1960mm in width, and 1905mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2850mm.

In terms of intelligence, the Tank 400 Hi4-T features a technology “quartet” comprising a Head-Up Display (HUD), streaming rearview mirror, LCD instrument screen, and central LCD screen. These four screens can work in tandem to provide comprehensive navigation and vehicle information. Additionally, online audio and video apps like Audiobooks, Love Quting, and iQiyi are integrated into the Tank 400 Hi4-T. Popular applications like Youku Video, Pumpkin Movies, and Mango TV can also be downloaded from the app store.

Furthermore, the new vehicle comes equipped with a 540-degree panoramic camera system, including a “Conqueror’s Perspective.” This perspective allows for close-up views of the area beneath the cabin through a front camera during specific conditions such as rock crawling and traversing large obstacles, helping to avoid damage caused by uneven terrain. The Tank 400 Hi4-T also supports Level 2 intelligent driving assistance systems like ACC, ELK, and LCK, offering follow-up assistance and blind spot detection for a more relaxed and convenient daily commute.

In terms of power, the Tank 400 Hi4-T variant is built on the Tank off-road super hybrid architecture, employing the P2 configuration, with a combined power output of 300 kW and a total torque of 750 N·m. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6.8 seconds. The Tank 400 Hi4-T is equipped with a 37.1 kWh battery pack, providing a pure electric range of 105 kilometers. Additionally, the Tank 400 Hi4-T achieves a fuel consumption of only 9.52 liters per 100 kilometers and can cover up to 800 kilometers in combined fuel and electric mode, with the option to refuel with 92# gasoline.
